HAPPY NEW YEAR — 2012!

The December distribution went well. We had 80 plus families show up. We had Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and volunteers to help out and they were great.

The January distribution was beset with snow and ice. I want to thank Jane and Bob Reichle and Sheila Griffin for their above and beyond work. They made decisions on the fly and were right on the mark. They started bringing people thru at 8:30 and didn’t stop until the last person came at 12:15. Pat Lewis and the scouts did a great job as usual.

After the Holidays, our supplies are running low. We are seeing an increase in the number of people coming to the Connecticut Farms Food Pantry for help.

The "basics" needed are: cereal, bottled juice, peanut butter, jelly, crackers, pasta, pasta sauce, canned fruit, canned vegetables, soup, tuna, macaroni and cheese, and pork 'n beans. Some suggested "extras" are rice, egg noodles, broth, canned meat and fish other than tuna, pancake and muffin mixes, condiments and salad dressing, tea and coffee and healthy snacks. You can't go wrong buying anything which is nutritional and on sale.

If you prefer that we do the shopping for you, place your monetary donation in a pew envelope and place it in the offering plate on Sunday morning. This would be a big help because it enables us to buy what is needed.

We are in need of bottles of juice and boxes of crackers. When you go shopping, would you please add a bottle of juice or a box of crackers to your cart and put it in one of the Food Pantry bins?

Thank you to all who donated turkeys or hams at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Because of your generosity, 30 families were able to enjoy a wonderful holiday dinner. Also thank you to all who donate manufacturer's coupons each month. They are much appreciated by our families who are trying to put food on their tables.

Thank you for your donations!!

Our next Food Distribution Date will be Saturday, February 18, 2012
