Christian Education

Computer labConnecticut Farms Presbyterian Church offers a year round Christian education program for children, youth and adults with seasonal additions. Programs range from our Learning Center Sunday School to Friday Happening. Our Sunday school includes a gym, plenty of classroom space for our centers and a 10-computer center. Children K-5th grade can view a video program that offers opportunities to learn our faith. Children 6th grade and above are asked to remain in worship. We also provide Confirmation classes, Vacation Bible schools and Summer Sunday programs.

We offer older youth a separate senior High class under the leadership of Matthew Glaser and a Youth Fellowship under the direction of our Youth Ministry Team.

Adults can participate in a Sunday morning current events/Bible study/special interests class entitled F.A.O.ED. (For Adults Only: Education) or attend any of the regular occurring Bible studies through out the year.

We strive to offer something for everyone. And if we don't have it this year, we'd readily add it on for the next program season.

Sunday School – Remember to come to Sunday School and earn your stars. Those with the most stars at the end of the month will get a surprise. The children have finished their first special class in which we studied the Story of Creation.

Church Library - If you are interested in reading some of the books our Book Club has been reading, the Book Club has been generous enough to donate some of them to our library. Look for the article in the Almanac for their first editorial on books they are reading.

Youth Group – Our Youth Group has been meeting every week for fellowship and fun. Super Bowl is just around the corner and time again for our youth group to run their Souper Bowl of Caring collection on Super Bowl Sunday.

Please remember to bring 1 to 2 canned items to place in our collection cans in the sanctuary. The youth will also take a monetary donation. All collections will be given to the CFC Food Pantry.

Be on the lookout for the Ski trip flyer in your mailbox, we will be skiing the mountains of Jack Frost, PA.

Childcare – Every Sunday morning childcare is available in our Nursery Room during Worship. Joan Romano, provides loving and gentle care for our children who are Kindergarten and younger. Sowing Tears Reaping Joy - The Bible and Brahms' Requiem
Lenten Adult Bible Study -- Sunday, March 4 to April 1, 2012

We have all experienced grief in some form. There are many ways to grieve, some of which are healthier than others. What comes naturally may not be what we refer to as "good" grief.

The apostle Paul wrote that he did not want us "to grieve as other do who have no hope." (1 Thessalonians 4:13) Notice he does not tell us not to grieve. Paul implies that for the Christian, grief happens in hope’s strong embrace.

Sowing Tears, reaping Joy: the Bible and Brahms’s Requiem is an exploration of what the Bible itself has to say about grief and hope in the Christian context. Looking at both Old and New Testament passages we will examine how these passages are interpreted by Brahms in his choral work, A German Requiem – often called the Protestant Requiem.

Take heart! You do not need to be expert on the bible or Brahms to participate in this study. Just come with a willing heart and mind to explore your thoughts and feeling about grief and Christian hope, allowing God’s Holy Spirit to take you to new understandings.
